On Friday, June 12, the Filipino American Council of Ventura County (FACVC) proudly celebrated Philippine Independence Day (Araw ng Kalayaan) with a Flag Raising Ceremony at Oxnard City Hall.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us, including the Oxnard City Council, dignitaries and representatives, elected officials, community leaders, and our wonderful Filipino American community.
Special appreciation goes to our distinguished guest speaker, Marc Amon, retired Oxnard Police Commander, for sharing his wisdom and insights on the significance of Philippine independence.
The Oxnard Police Department cited Marc Amon's reflections on "the importance of family legacy, public service, preserving Filipino culture, and passing those values on to future generations."
We also thank Zaida Farala for her beautiful rendition of the Philippine National Anthem.
Maraming salamat to Seafood City and Lumpia & More for providing delicious merienda , and to the FACVC officers, members, and partner organizations whose dedication and hard work made this annual celebration possible.
The event was also featured in the local weekly newspaper Tri County Sentry.
Salamat po sa inyong lahat, at Mabuhay!
